Tips for Job Interview Success from Our Recruiters
Once you make it past the online application process, you’ll need to prepare for your in-person interview with a 21CF recruiter. The interview is your chance to tell us why you’re the best candidate for the job, what you bring to our company, and most important, your chance to find out if the job and our company is right for you. We’re interviewing you, but you should also be interviewing us. Our recruiters shared some useful tips to help you make a good first impression.
1. Research our company, the brand and the department.
Do your research to get a sense of who we are, what we do and how we do it. Also, do some research on the recruiter and hiring manager
if you know who you’ll be meeting. Don’t forget to research the brand and department to find out as much as you can about what they do.
If you can’t find information, ask the recruiter for any insight he/she can provide.
2. Know who you’re meeting.
Get a list of the interviewers you’re meeting so you can do some research on them. You often can learn a lot about the person you’ll be meeting on LinkedIn. Sometimes your recruiter can provide more insight into what information might intrigue the hiring manager or turn them off.
3. Anticipate questions you might get asked.
Predict the interview questions you might get asked, and prepare how to answer them. Think carefully about what skills, accomplishments and interview answers will resonate with your interviewers most. Your management abilities? Your creativity? Your accomplishments?
Have a good answer to "Tell me about yourself" ready to go. Interviewers often ask it, and you want to be sure to nail this first part of the interview.
It’s likely you'll get asked why you're interested in the particular role and brand/division within 21CF. Plan to tell your interviewers a couple of key factors that make the role a great fit for both you and the company.
4. Prepare your questions.
Think about a few questions about the company and role in advance. Make sure they're thoughtful ones that show us you’ve been paying attention, and that demonstrate your true curiosity and interest in the role.
5. Don’t forget these things:
- Extra copies of your resume/CV. You never know who you'll be meeting, and you want to have your resume/CV ready to go in case you're asked for it.
- Brush up on your non-verbals. Your body language conveys a lot. Be aware of what you’re communicating through your posture and stance — and make sure it’s good.
- Send a thank-you note, letter and/or email after the interview. It leaves a good impression with the people you spoke with.
