JOB DESCRIPTION

We are looking for an Associate Producer who will work with both America’s News Headquarters and in the Washington Newsroom.  As the Associate Producer, you will assist with logging news events and identify newsworthy sound and pictures while newsgathering. You are a pro-active, passionate and self-motivated individual who will work with show producers and reporters to advance the networks’ coverage.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Write scripts for air
  • Pitch and produce guest segments including video and graphics
  • Assist reporters and producers in gathering video and picking soundbites for air
  • Attending and/or logging news conferences and newsmaker interviews

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years of broadcast experience preferred
  • Good editorial judgment as well as strong logistical skills
  • Knowledge of national politics and the DC area
  • The ability to work well in a fast paced and intense atmosphere
  • Ability to handle breaking news
  • Knowledge of Viz editing
  • Familiarity with iNews
  • Flexibility to work various shifts when needed (must be available to work weekends)
  • Motivated, self-starter who is able to work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize is a necessity       
  • Job requires weekend and sometimes evening work

  • Willingness to travel for news events/interviews

  • Willingness to work on days off during breaking news
